What is Soliphant FTM50
The Soliphant FTM50 is a point level switch (or point level detector) designed for detecting the presence (or absence) of bulk solids (especially finegrained or powdery solids) in silos, hoppers, or similar vessels. It is part of the Vibronic family of Endress+Hauser devices.
“Point level” means it detects at a specific location (e.g. the “fork”) rather than measuring the level continuously. So it might be used to detect “high level”, “low level”, “overflow” or “material arrived at this point”, etc.
How it works (Measuring Principle)
Key Features & Advantages
Here are its strong points:
Feature | Description / Benefit |
Low bulk density capability | It can detect very light (fine, powdery) materials — standard fork works down to ~10 g/L, short fork version (~50 g/L) for higher densities. |
Wide temperature & pressure ranges | Operates from about 50 °C up to +280 °C; pressure from vacuum to +25 bar. |
Robust design | Stainless steel or aluminium housings; for harsh conditions; options for coatings (PTFE, ETFE) etc. |
Certifications & Safety | Has international explosion-protection certificates for use in hazardous (dust/gas) zones; supports Safety Integrity Level SIL2 under IEC 61508. |
Flexible mounting & connections | Fork length options, different process connections (threads, flanges, hygienic / Tri-Clamp etc.). |
Diagnostics & settings | It has options for detecting build-up / abrasion, switching delays, density settings; also self-test behaviour. |
